Nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Fort Collins has been voted one of the best places to live in the United States by various magazines and organizations over the last several years.  But why is it so great?  Keep reading and you’ll find out.

Fort Collins – A Great Place for College and Families Alike

With a population of nearly 145,000, the unemployment rate is 4.3 percent, 2 percent below the national average and recent job growth is still rising. As an agricultural and high-tech hub situated in a college town, the job base is steady and the majority of the population is well educated. The median home price is $247,200 and homes appreciate in the area an average of 9.2 percent.

If you have kids in the public school system, you can expect 19.1 students per teacher.  More than 70 percent of high school graduates in the public school system enroll in a college or university immediately after graduation.

Fort Collins – A Great Place for Playing Outdoors

Boasting 300 days of sunshine per year helps make Fort Collins a popular spot to plant roots for anyone that likes to be outside and active.  Residents can enjoy the 600 acres of parks, 20 miles of off-street hiking and biking trails and 280 miles of on-street bike lanes.  When the weather doesn’t cooperate, locals can work up a sweat in a robust lineup of city-run indoor exercise facilities.

With an easily accessible trail system that reaches every corner of the city and an infrastructure that is mostly up to date, the average commute time is 20 minutes, which means you can be home from work and on your bike in less than 30 minutes.

After a long workout, residents can enjoy a refreshment at one of the many of breweries in the area that are award-winning craft brewers.   Fort Collins is becoming quickly known as a beer craft brewer mecca. Popular breweries like Odell and New Belgium are some of the big players, but there are several other craft brewers that easily make taste-testing a popular activity with friends.

Fort Collins – A Great Place for Night-Life

When it comes to entertainment and culture, downtown Fort Collins has plenty of options to offer.  Live music can be heard just about any night of the week, family friendly festivals and events happen year round, and the downtown district has vast amenities for college students and families alike.

If you’re on the south side of town, you might want also to check out Front Range Village. From coffee shops to sushi, groceries and gumbo Front Range Village is a Northern Colorado experience you have to check out! Occasionally, Front Range Village also hosts events.
